INCREASE Citizen Science Experiment 2026 Officially Begins with More Than 1,600 Registered Participants

The registration period for the INCREASE Citizen Science Experiment 2026 has officially closed, and we are delighted to announce the start of this year’s growing season.

A total of 1,615 citizens from 25 European countries have registered to participate in the experiment. The highest participation comes from Germany (525 participants), followed by Italy (487), France (117) and The Netherlands (110).

With this year’s registrations, the INCREASE Citizen Science Experiment has now engaged more than 27,000 participants across all six growing seasons, highlighting the continued enthusiasm and commitment of citizens across Europe to agrobiodiversity and bean conservation. In addition, 129 schools have registered to take part in the 2026 experiment, bringing more students and teachers into the growing INCREASE community.
