World Pulses Day, taking place on 10th February each year, is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses such as lentils, beans, chickpeas, and peas. Established by the United Nations in 2019, the day highlights the role of pulses in achieving food security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and combating malnutrition. Pulses are rich in protein, fiber, and essential nutrients, making them an important part of a healthy diet while also contributing to soil health and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The celebration encourages governments, organisations, and individuals to promote and consume pulses for a more sustainable future.
