
“Bean of the Week” Becomes “Bean of the Month” – More Time to Discover Each Variety!
Starting in June 2025, the popular “Bean of the Week” series will transition to a monthly format and be renamed “Bean of the Month”.
Since its launch, the Bean of the Week series has introduced our community to the rich diversity of bean varieties curated as part of the INCREASE project. Each week, we have spotlighted a different bean from our collection, celebrating its unique colours, shapes, histories, and uses. A total of 12 bean profiles have been published to date.
To give each variety the attention it deserves and allow deeper exploration of its characteristics, cultural background, and culinary potential, we will now focus on one bean each month.
“The Bean of the Month will allow us to continue giving you interesting facts and figures about bean varieties from the INCREASE Citizen Science Experiment,” said Kerstin Neumann, Coordinator of the CSE. “It’s a celebration of agrobiodiversity and a way to slow down and truly appreciate the beans that connect our tables and traditions.”
